Activities

Sacred Heart School offers a wide range of activities to develop the holistic growth of its students. From sports like football and basketball to performing arts like dance and music.

Music

“Music is a more potent instrument than any other for education.”- Plato

Music can raise someone's mood, make them calm and relaxed. Music participation provides a unique opportunity for literacy preparation. Whether the children are singing, playing, or listening, teachers direct them to listen and hear in new ways which exercises their aural discrimination. Playing instruments and adding movement to the lessons teaches children about sequential learning which is essential in reading comprehension.

Dance

Dance is a performing art form consisting of purposefully selected sequences of human movement. This movement has aesthetic and symbolic value, and is acknowledged as dance by performers and observers within a particular culture. Dance can be categorized and described by its choreography, by its repertoire of movements, or by its historical period or place of origin.

Game

Sport includes all forms of competitive physical activity or games which, through casual or organized participation, aim to use, maintain or improve physical ability and skills while providing enjoyment to participants, and in some cases, entertainment for spectators.

Art & Craft

The Art, and Craft Education is so vital to our culture because through them, the students learn to think and act as artists, makers and designers, working creatively and intelligently.

  • The Sacred Heart School, was established in the 1940's, by the Vicar Apostolic of Arabia. In 1953 it was entrusted to the care of the Comboni Missionary Sisters who amidst obstacles built an edifice of Love and Service. The dedicated band of Sisters left no stone unturned to maintain excellent standard in the school. They will always be fondly remembered.

In 1970, the School began to train and enroll students for the Royal Society of Arts Examinations and in 1972, for the General Certificate of Education Examinations.

In 1974, the University of London chose the Sacred Heart School as a centre for conducting its examinations, and in 2005, it was recognized as an official London Examinations, International Centre of learning by Edexcel International.

The School progressed by leaps and bounds. It presently occupies two campuses retaining its original premises in Manama, where it houses its LKG classes in a pedagogically equipped building that was inaugurated in 1991. In 1978, the Junior classes and in 1989, the Senior classes were shifted to the newly built premises at Isa Town, on a plot of land benevolently donated by the late Amir, Shaikh Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa.

In 2003, His Excellency, Bishop Bernard G. Gremoli, the Vicar Apostolic of Arabia entrusted the School to the care of the Apostolic Carmel Sisters. Bishop Bernard Gremoli was devoted to the cause of education and character formation. The students looked up to him and admired his benevolent qualities. The Sacred Heart Family will always cherish his memory.

After his retirement in 2005, the reigns were passed on to His Excellency Bishop Paul Hinder, the new Vicar Apostolic of Arabia, whose message is “to work together and share what we have received from God with all people of goodwill, regardless of where they come from and what religion they look to as their guide.” His Excellency is a strong supporter of the Sacred Heart School and what it stands for.

The Sacred Heart Management, Faculty and Students will bear in mind His Lordship's message and live together in peace and harmony.

On May 31st 2011, His Excellency Bishop Camillo Ballin, MCCJ became the First Apostolic Vicar of Northern Arabia. He oversees the territories of Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

Bishop Camillo's motto “In Verbo Tuo” motivates his Lordship to embrace the challenges of daily life and bring God's love, peace and mercy to all.

His Excellency is an ordinary, down to earth, humorous person who has a wide range of knowledge in various subjects.

His Excellency himself being an educationist is a staunch supporter of the value based education provided by the Sacred Heart School, Bahrain.
